What Did You Choose?
Aug 22, 2026
We inherit beliefs before we inherit the ability to question them.
Long before we're capable of examining the world, we're learning what beautiful looks like. Who is intelligent. What makes someone good. What success means. Which bodies are desirable. Which emotions are acceptable. What God is like—or whether God exists at all.
A child doesn't usually evaluate these ideas.
They absorb them.
And eventually, something we were taught can become indistinguishable from something we believe.
That's what interests me.
Not because everything inherited is wrong. That would simply replace one unquestioned assumption with another.
You may examine the spiritual beliefs you were raised with and choose them more deeply. You may reconsider what you were taught about intelligence and realize the definition was far too narrow. You may look at the standards by which you've judged your body and wonder when you actually agreed to them.
Where a belief came from doesn't determine whether it's true.
But it does raise another question:
Did I ever get to decide?
I think that's one of the more interesting possibilities within subconscious work.
We talk so much about changing our beliefs that we can skip the more fundamental experience of actually meeting them.
Not as rules.
Not as facts.
Not as something a parent, teacher, religion, culture, relationship, or younger version of ourselves already decided.
As an adult who finally gets to encounter the idea consciously.
Maybe you keep it.
Maybe you reject it.
Maybe you change it.
Maybe you discover you don't know what you believe yet.
There is intelligence in that uncertainty.
Because conscious living isn't replacing everything you inherited.
It's becoming capable of knowing the difference between what was given to you and what you choose to continue carrying.
Some beliefs become more meaningful when we choose them for ourselves.
Others finally become available to leave.
WHAT ARE YOU NOT SEEING YET?
The patterns shaping your life aren't always the ones you can easily recognize. Some have been with you so long they simply feel like you.
The free MORE Method helps you look beneath what's familiar, recognize what's been influencing your choices, and begin separating what you've learned from what you actually want.
